Canada Service's mandate is to promote and support
research, education and publications in all fields of Canadian
Studies and in all countries Canadians place a premium on
education and demand first-rate schools. Canada spends more
per capita on its education system than any other country
in the G-8 and is among the top three countries in the Organization
for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). A degree
from a Canadian university is recognized world-wide and as
a result, international students who graduate from Canadian
universities enjoy successful and prosperous careers
Canadian Education System
The Canadian education system
encompasses both publicly-funded and private schools, from
kindergarten through to university. Education is a provincial
responsibility under the Canadian constitution, which means
there are significant differences between the education systems
of the different provinces. However, standards across the
country are uniformly high.
The following sections provide
an overview of the Canadian education system.

TUITION FEES
In Québec, international
students must pay tuition fees per semester at the college
level and per credit at the university level. On average,
a university student earns 30 credits per school year.
At the college level, tuition
fees vary depending on a student's program of studies. Educational
institutions inform international students who wish to apply
for admission of the applicable fees. There are usually two
semesters per school year. Technical programs last three years.
At the university level, tuition fees consist
of the fees paid by Quebec students — roughly $56 per
credit — and any supplemental tuition fees that vary
as follows:
- at the doctoral level, $220 per credit;
- at the Master's level, $250 per credit;
- at the undergraduate level:
- $284 per credit for studies in medicine,
health care, the arts, and pure and applied sciences;
- $250 per credit for studies in other
fields.
A student may be exempted from
the payment of supplemental tuition fees upon meeting certain
conditions besides the conditions for the establishment of
diplomatie personnal.
